SurfRecon™ Products

SurfRecon is a rapid-image-analysis / pornography-detection tool that allows law enforcement, parents, and business owners to quickly scan, categorize, review, and delete pornography from almost any computer system. The software comes pre-installed on a thumb drive making it highly mobile and very easy to use. There are currently three SurfRecon products available:

SurfRecon Elite Edition for law enforcement only brings a powerful set of tools to the streets. Elite is the ultimate tool for performing first-response, triage, and consent searches.

Mobile

SurfRecon runs right from a thumb drive, making it easy to carry the application with you wherever you go.

Easy to Use

SurfRecon comes pre-installed on a thumb drive and with a simple user interface that is completely customizable. All you need to do is insert the USB drive, launch the application, and start the search. SurfRecon will do the rest.

Cross Platform

SurfRecon runs on almost any Windows, Macintosh, and Linux computer system.

Auto Updates

SurfRecon gives you the option to update your copy of the software whenever you launch the application (an Internet connection is required). The auto update freature ensures you have the latest features, fixes, and resources.

Online and Offline Searches

You can perfrom online (connected via the Internet) or offline searches with SurfRecon. When connected online, you have greater access to SurfRecon's image hash data; however, with SurfRecon's built-in cache capability, offline searches still access millions of image hashes.

IFID (International Forensic Identification Database)

The IFID offers SurfRecon users access to over 100 million image hash values—the largest collection of image hashes for safe, sexual, and child pornography in the world.

Reboot CD (Elite Only)

SurfRecon can run natively on almost any Windows, Macintosh, and Linux computer; however, the Elite edition can also use a reboot CD which allows you to restart a computer system in a locked-down, write-blocked mode.

Rapid Image Scanning and Categorization

SurfRecon can scan and properly categorize over 500 images per second into "Safe", "Sexual", and "Child Porn" categories, allowing an individual to scan a computer system very quickly.

Thumbnail View and Image View

SurfRecon allows users to quickly review images in a Thumbnail View; or more-closely inspect a single image in the Image View.

Image Data

SurfRecon offers a wealth of information concerning each image through a number of information panels, including image dimensions, CMA data, URLs, local file location, EXIF data, submission records, case notes, Digital Keyhole™ data, and much more.

Submitting Images

SurfRecon allows you to contribute to the IFID by categorizing unknown images as either Safe, Sexual, or Child Pornography (CP can only be categorized with the Elite Edition). By categorizing an image, you are submitting the iamge's hash data to the IFID to share with others.

Safety Tools

SurfRecon provides a number of safety tools that can protect the mental health and sensitivity of those individuals tasked with reviewing pornographic content. These tools include a blur tool, Digital Keyholes™, and other meta data panels that can help you determine the nature of an image without exposing yourself to the entire image.

Reports

SurfRecon provides a robust reporting tool that allows you to document not only what activity has occurred during the search, but any sexual or child-pornography images that were discovered.
