Can I Find Out Why an Image Was Added
to The Database?
An image is submitted to the database because it meets our requirements for a "Safe", "Sexual", or "Child Pornogrphy" image. Those requirements include not only the content of an image or vidoe, but the context of the image or video as well as its location within the Internet. Some images categorized as "Sexual" may seem to be innocent, until you discover that the image was downloaded from a known adult website.
You can determine where an image was downloaded from by viewing the data in the Image Info panel. If the image was downloaed of the Internet, the "Downloaded From" line at the top of the pannel shows the URL. Some images that are not sexual in nature and that were downloaded from a safe site may be categorized as "Sexual" because the same image was found on other adult websites. So be sure to check the "Downloaded From" link in the Image Info panel.
If the image was found on the computer but was either not downloaded from the Internet or was originally downloaded from the Internet and then saved to the hard drive, the Image Info panel shows "Located At" rather than "Downloaded From". In such a case, an image was categorized as "Sexual" because it was previously submitted as such by another user or previously discovered on a known adult website.
Lastly, by accessing the "Submission" panel (Business ERT and Elite vesions only), you can find out who submitted the image if the image was submitted, what website or TLD (top level domain) it was located, and the adult-keyword density scores for the page.
Lastly, SurfRecon does employ automated crawler technology that continuously searches the Internet for images and videos on adult websites. As a result of the automated nature of the crawler—as well as some human error—some false positives may occur. That is why it is so important to use the safety features to review any images or video found, as well as the Image Info and Submission panels to make a final determination.
