How Does a SurfRecon Scan Work?
SurfRecon uses digital signtures—a combination of hash values and other data elements—to uniquely identify an image or video file. Think of a digital signature like a fingerprint.
When you start a scan of a computer, SurfRecon methodically scans every file on your computer to determine if it is an image or video file. SurfRecon opens the header information of a file to determine what the file is.
If the file is an image or video, the software creates a digital signature for the file and compares it to the millions of digital signatures that SurfRecon already has on file. If a match is found, SurfRecon can categorize the file for you. Otherwise, the file is placed in the "Review" tab for analyses later.
