Launching SurfRecon
SurfRecon can be installed on a local system, a thumb drive, or other device that has read/write ability. If you install it on a thumb drive, insert the thumb drive into a functioning USB port, mount the USB drive (most operating systems will automatically do this), and click on the SurRecon icon.
If your are running a Windows operating system, you may be prompted to open a new explorer window to view the contents of the thumb drive. You can also access the contents of the thumb drive by opening the "My Computer" directory in an explorer window. The thumb drive will appear as a new drive, e.g. F: SurfRecon, G: SurfRecon, or H:SurfRecon.
If your are using a Macintosh operating system, the contents of the USB drive will appear as a folder or drive on the desktop.
Once the SurfRecon folder has been accessed, locate the correct application executable file based on the system you are investigating:
SurfRecon_for_Windows (for Windows-based computer systems)
SurfRecon_for_Macintosh (for Macintosh-based computer systems)
SurfRecon_for_Linux (for Linux-based computer systems)
Double click on the appropriate executable file and the SurfRecon application will launch.
